Here are a collection of accomplishments we have made TOGETHER
New Amtrak Fence!
At our first community meeting, it was brought to our attention that the fence needed repair. There was trespassing on private property and burglaries in the past. We contacted Amtrak and with the help of Senator Antonio Hayes, Amtrak came out and put in a brand new fence! Team work!
Gate installed at Violetville Park
Having our park closed at night increases neighborhood safety. In September 2019, we requested a gate be installed for the parking lot near the United Methodist Church. The gate was installed September 2020, and Recs & Parks is working on getting an additional part and scheduling to make sure that it is locked every night.
New Village of Violetville sign on Benson Avenue!
Neighbors and businesses donated items for our our quarter auction coordinated by resident Sherry Baker <3 We successfully funded and replaced our neighborhood sign that was falling apart. It may just be a sign, but having a new bright sign shows we’re welcoming and take pride in our little village.
2nd Place in the Mayor's Cleanup Cup!
Out of 120 neighborhoods, Violetville came in Second Place for the Mayors CleanUp Cup!!! Amazing work yall!! We couldn’t have done it without our 26 volunteers including Violetville residents, Jon Merryman, Southwest Area Clean Up Crew (Victor and Heather), Elevation Ministries, Saint Agnes Healthcare, Baltimore Community ToolBank Baltimore City Department of Public Works, and anyone else we forgot!
Christmas Decorating Competition
For a morale booster we brought back the neighborhood Holiday Decorating Competition! After judging we distributed prizes to all the winners! Great job everyone and can’t wait to see what you do for 2020!!
